LOCATION: The Broad in LA
Two of my closest friends and I decided to make a trip to Los Angeles and visit the new Broad museum. If you haven't checked it out yet, hurry up and drive over! It's such an aesthetically pleasing location and the way the colors and creativity flow together just make my soul so happy. The entire day was so freeing and calming. We started it by waiting in line for an hour and a half, chatting and munching on cookies as we stood on the sidewalk. The museum was fun to explore, and one of my favorite installations was "The Visitors" by Ragnar Kjartansson. It consists of 9 screens of video that have a performer in each. For an hour, they all sing together, and since the installation is in an enclosed room, their voices bounce so beautifully off of the walls, that I felt like I was in a trance. It took everything in us not to fall asleep in there.
After driving back to our hometown from The Broad, which only took 20 minutes because there was no traffic (which was really a gift in itself), we ended our day together with some yummy Thai food.
It's days like these that make me especially appreciate life and the people that I choose to surround myself with. Now we're all back in our respective schools and won't be seeing each other until June. :(
